The Congress in Detail The English-speaking official report of the Congress was written by Mr Kinsey, Secretary of the English-speaking delegation. There may be other official Italian and French versions in existence, however as far as it is concerned, this is the only detailed report of the day-to-day programme, summary of the discussions and debates and the resolutions in this website. Most of the text were derived / based from a book called Speech for the Deaf: Report of the Proceedings of the International Congress on the Education of the Deaf-Mutes, held at Milan, September 6th-11th, 1880; taken from the official English minutes, read by A. A. Kinsey, Secretary of the English-speaking section of the Congress. The book is possibly the only copy in existence located at the RNID Library although it is believed that there may be a second copy at Washington DC University School of Medicine Bernard Becker Medical Library. It is also worth reading When The Mind Hears - A History of the Deaf, by Harlan Lane (First Vintage Books. ISBN 0-679-72023-5) where there is a section on pages 386-402 containing several accounts of the Congress.
